Frequently asked questions

Is it free to convert images to PDF?

Yes. You do not need an account or to install anything, and the PDF has no watermark.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The images are processed in your browser, on your own device, so we never receive or store your photos. That makes it a good choice for scanned documents, receipts or personal photos.

Which image formats can I use?

JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF (for an animated GIF the first frame is used). BMP too, if your browser can open it, which the main ones do. Any other file is turned away with a message.

What about iPhone photos in HEIC format?

Most browsers cannot open HEIC, the format iPhones use by default, so this tool does not accept it. Safari on the iPhone often converts photos from the library to JPG on its own when you pick them. If you end up with HEIC files, for example copied to a computer, export them as JPG before adding them.

Which page size can I choose?

Three: "Fit to image" (the default, each page is the size of its image), A4 and Letter. On A4 and Letter you can choose the orientation (auto, portrait or landscape) and a small or large margin. The image is scaled to fit the page without stretching it, and centered.

Will the quality of my images change?

JPGs go in as they are, without being compressed again. PNG, GIF and BMP images are saved without loss. JPGs that have to be rotated, either because you rotate them or because the camera saved them sideways, and WebP images without transparency are saved again as high-quality JPG, with a difference that is hard to see. If an image that has to be redrawn is huge (more than about 16 megapixels), it is made slightly smaller so that the browser can handle it.

How many images can I add?

There is no fixed limit. Because everything is processed on your device, the practical limit is the memory of your browser: with many large photos, or several hundred MB in total, it can be slow or fail, especially on phones. The tool warns you when the total is very large.

Can I reorder and rotate the images?

Yes. With a mouse, drag the handle of each image; on any device, use the arrow buttons to move it up or down. The rotate button turns it a quarter turn clockwise each time. The PDF follows that order and those turns.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. It works in any up-to-date browser, on computers, phones and tablets. On touch screens, use the arrow buttons to reorder the images.
