What Koliby is

A site with simple tools for everyday tasks: putting several PDFs into one document, turning photos into a PDF, turning an iPhone video into a format that plays everywhere, creating a strong password or the hash you need to store for it. Merge PDF, Image to PDF, MOV to MP4, the password generator and the bcrypt hash generator are available now, and the list will keep growing.

There are no accounts, nothing to install and the results carry no watermarks.

Privacy by design

Many online services upload your file to a server, process it there and send it back. Here it is the other way around: the work happens in your browser, using the power of your own device, so we never receive or store your files.

This is not just a promise you can read: you can check it with your browser’s developer tools, where you will see that your file is not sent anywhere. Besides privacy, this makes everything faster, because there is nothing to upload and nothing to wait for.

Why it is free

Keeping a fast, reliable site costs time and money: domain, hosting and development. We cover it with Google AdSense advertising, not with your data or your files, which we do not have.

We try to keep the advertising discreet and out of the way of the tools. If the site is useful to you, the best help is sharing it with someone who needs it.

The story of the hummingbird

The name comes from “kolibri”, the word that languages such as German and Swedish use for the hummingbird. We chose it for what it stands for: it is small, agile and able to do in seconds what takes others much longer.

That is what we want from our tools: light and fast, doing what they promise and then getting out of the way. The logo is a hummingbird drawn for the site.
